Lifestraw water filter reviewBuy fromn amazon buttonThe Life Straw Water Filter is not only an award winning product but can be used in a variety of situations. This filter was featured in Time Magazine for Invention of the Year and doesn’t require batteries, chemicals, or moving parts to operate the way that it should. It has been used and tested around the world under the most extreme conditions to ensure that this awe inspiring product is worth the small investment that you would be making to purchase one.

The life straw filter is a great accessory for the traveling fisherman. It can be a major pain in the butt to transport a full days worth of water in a backpack or fly vest. Now you can drink directly from the river safely!

Update: After buying a lifestraw a long time ago for this this review, I just bought another one. They are just plain easy to use and make sense to carry in a  backpack. They are so small, inexpensive and work so easily.

Specs

While this product doesn’t require you to do much of anything to keep it working the way that it should, it only weighs 2 oz. to make it easier to carry with you. Through a variety of different tests, researchers found that the Life Straw can remove a minimum of 99.9% of waterborne bacteria and protozoan parasites, as well as 0.2 microns. It can filter as much as 1000 liters of contaminated water without any chemicals to assist it in cleaning or disinfecting the water. This personal water filter comes in a sealed bag and is intended for use in survival packs and emergency gear.

Positive Customer Reviews

Customers love the Life Straw Personal Water Filter, and their online reviews show it. While many of these customers use the Life Straw for camping, others use them as part of their bug out packs and survivalist gear. One customer has added a portable siphon hand liquid transfer pump to his life straw to put water into pots, pans, or water bottles on camping trips. Other customers have purchased the Life Straw for world traveling to places like Nepal and Cambodia where the water quality isn’t as great as it should be. One customer purchased the Life Straw for use while camping and was so excited to try it out, he went in search of the nastiest water that he could find in his home. There just so happened to be a sink full of nasty, dirty dish water in the sink and he tested his Life Straw on that. He said that not only could he not taste a thing, but the water was completely clear and soap free. I have heard of motivated sales associates drinking toilet water out of the lifestraw filter.

The fact is, this filter sells like crazy on Amazon.com. There are over 2400 reviews and it sits at a rating of 4.5 stars. Perhaps the best part about this filter is it’s super small size. You can fit it anywhere and it weighs almost nothing. Another major selling point for the lifestraw filter is the super low retail price of 17.99. That is a small price to pay for a great water filter.

Negative Customer Reviews

Some customers were not as impressed with the Life Straw as others. While a few had problems getting it to work, others felt it was overly gimmicky when compared to other personal water filters. These kinds of reviews are few and far between, the reason for the issues with this filter could easily be caused by improper use.

Summary: Personally I love these filters and find them well worth the low price tag. Even if you don’t use it as your primary source of water on a fishing trip, the lifestraw water filter is a great item to keep in your car, boat or fly vest for those moments where you just don’t have enough water for whatever reason.

If there is one good reason to offer this lifestraw water filter review, its that it is cheap enough, light enough and easy enough to carry anywhere. Hell, I wouldn’t set foot in the forest without one of these…You just don’t know when you’ll end up stuck without water.
