I have owned these waders for one full year and have used them a lot since. I bought these as backup waders but have since ended up making them my primary’s. 2 years ago I bought the sonic pro zip front Redington waders, but they turned up missing somewhere in my move back to Idaho last year. Redington Palix River Waders Review 2021
Palix River Waders Review Pros:
- 2 pockets in the front, they have a zipping internal pocket for a cell phone that has always stayed dry even after swimming a couple times and a large velcro pocket in the front for floatant fly boxes or whatever else you need handy.
- They are tough, I have only managed to put one small pinhole behind my left knee and it was easy to fix. For a year old pair of waders to only leak in one spot is probably a new record for me (I am tough on these things). The reinforced front portion of the waders has withstood a lot of sharp thorn bushes.
- The buckles are easy too clip together and can only be clipped to the proper side, so your straps will always be attached to the right position(right strap over right shoulder, left over left etc.)
- They come with a decent wading belt and tension straps on the top of the waders that seems to stay fairly tight and are easy to adjust.
- Felt lined pocket for your hands to keep warm
- Built in gravel guards that have always stayed in place for me and always done a good job of keeping out gravel.
Cons:
- The primary pocket is not waterproof because of drain holes, so it will fill up with water if you expose even the lowest part of the pocket to water. This means that if you wade up near the top of your waders in water, anything in that pocket will get wet. They made this for easy draining, but it has been a pain in the butt for me. I always keep a small box of flies in that pocket and they always end up wet. This would be easy enough to fix with a little wader repair glue or silicone sealant I suppose, but I just haven’t got around to it.
In Conclusion – Redington Palix River Waders Review
These aren’t the cheapest waders on the market, but I feel good about recommending them. They are tough, comfortable and easy to get in and out of. The only bad part about the Redington palix river waders in my opinion is the drain holes in the front pocket that allow things in that pocket to get wet if the water is deep. Great for catching that record brown trout. Overall I consider these waders to be a bargain and well worth the super cheap price tag. Hopefully you enjoyed this Redington Palix River Waders Review.
