Rocky Mountain Bonefish

This spring I suddenly developed a much greater appreciation for the mountain whitefish we have here in Idaho and the other Rocky mountain states. I’ve seen people throw them on the bank, hit them with oars and be completely disrespectful of this perhaps ugly; but nonetheless native fish. These beauties not only deserve respect, but they are delicious to eat and fun to catch. Earlier this year I caught, cleaned and cooked some whitefish and it was amazing.

I just found this old video posted in 2008 by the Idaho fish and game. I thought maybe it would encourage people to go out and catch some “Rocky mountain bonefish”. It’s a pretty good video with some nice underwater footage. Get out there and enjoy the jewels of the Rocky mountains, the whitie :)
